Plans Unveiled for West Campus Gym
Forsyth Technical Community College has announced plans for a new gym floor design at its West campus. This exciting development will provide a state-of-the-art facility for student athletes to compete on when official NJCAA play begins in the fall of 2025.
"It is such an exciting time for Forsyth Tech Athletics as we build the athletic program and renovate our facilities at the West Campus location," said Director of Athletics, Shelly Barnes. "My understanding of that campus is that it orginally was built in 1960 as Bolton Elementary School, then Ardmore Junior High, and later became Dalton Junior High School. In the 1980's, Forsyth Tech was able to acquire that campus and since that time intramurals and different events have been held in the gym. With us starting our athletic teams in the Fall of 2025, we needed to go in and clean the space, update, and give it more of a collegiate feel. We just removed the old wooden bleachers in preparation for sanding the floor down to the original wood, we are prepping the walls for fresh paint, then we will put down our new branding and varnish the floor. The gym is going to be an exceptional space for competition once all of our projects there are completed."
The floor will feature modern design and materials, ensuring optimal playing conditions for both women's volleyball and men's basketball. The new Forsyth Tech athletics logo can be seen prominently displayed at half court.
The baseline padding will feature a close up of the Forysth Tech mascot, Blaze.
This investment in athletic facilities demonstrates Forsyth Tech's commitment to providing top-notch resources for its students and supporting the growth of its new athletics program.
