Karlie Huffman, Volleyball

Karlie Huffman signed her letter of intent to play for Forsyth Tech on Wednesday, November 27th. Karlie is a 5'7" setter and pin hitter from West Wilkes High School. 

"Karlie is a very skilled player and a great addition to our inaugural team," said head coach Sarah Weavil. "The more time I spent getting to know Karlie, the more I could tell that she would help establish a winning culture for us here at Forsyth Tech. I am excited to coach her and love how this team is coming together."

What is your dream job?

Dental Hygienist

If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

Florida! I love the beach and warm weather.

What is one thing people don't know about you?

One thing people don't know about me is that I sing with a gospel group from my hometown.

What are you good at besides playing volleyball?

I'd say I am pretty good at art and anything artistic. I love to paint, draw, and color.

When did you start playing volleyball, and why?

I started playing volleyball when I was in the third grade. I could not fully play until fourth grade, but I started doing a lot in third grade to get ready for it. I have always loved volleyball because my mom always coached my older sister and I loved to play with them so I decided to play and it was the best decision of my life!!

What position do you play?

I am a setter and pin hitter. I have not done setting for too long, but I really love it because you're always moving and making something happen during every point. I also love being a pin hitter because I love challenging myself to hit spots and hit around a block that is bigger than me!

What is your favorite volleyball memory?

My favorite volleyball memory is from my junior year. My high school team had won a grame in five sets that we played our absolute hearts out, and it was so good seeing that the hard work paid off because we won and the happiness and smiles on everyone's faces was just so worth it.

What is your favorite food?

Definitely either steak or salad.

Why did you choose Forsyth Tech?

I chose Forsyth Tech because I went on a visit there and I just fell in love with the place and the people. Coach Sarah and Shelly Barnes just made me feel so welcome. They also have an AMAZING dental program and it makes me so excited because that's what I want to go into!
