Jade Matias, Volleyball

Jade Matias signed her letter of intent to play for Forsyth Tech on Thursday, December 19th. Jade is a 5'10" middle blocker from Southwestern Randolph High School. 

"Jade brings a great interior presence to our defensive line," said head coach Sarah Weavil. "Jade has a winning resume and will help us establish a strong defense. I am excited with how this roster is coming together and I can't wait to get to work with Jade and all of our other signees."

What is your dream job?

My dream job is to be a dental hygienist.

Greece

What is one thing people don't know about you?

One thing people don't know about me is that I go by Jade but my real name is Vanessa. My middle name is Jade.

What are you good at besides playing volleyball?

Fortnite

When did you start playing volleyball, and why?

I started playing volleyball in the seventh grade because some of my softball friends convinced me to play.

What position do you play?

I play middle. I really enjoy this position and think it is underrated because without a middle the team defense would really struggle.

What is your favorite volleyball memory?

Going to my high school state championship in 2021.

What is your favorite food?

Pasta

Why did you choose Forsyth Tech?

I chose Forsyth Tech because it was a fresh start and a program I hope to help set high standards with.
